Coming Home
Topsy-turvey
I hope I will not be getting in trouble with U.S. authorities for bringing back with me, in my suitcase no doubt, the indomitable Dutch weather. We have been experiencing an inordinate amount of rain, wind, clouds, and storms here in “sunny” California. Next to this, I have been hearing that the Netherlands was having a touch of a California drought… oops! Are these topsy-turvy climates trying to tell us something?
Unusual events
To say nothing of the volcanic ash cloud I was fortunate enough to avoid on my plane trip home. If I had left a few weeks later, I would have been one of those “trapped” abroad (although, speaking for myself, I would not have minded very much being forced to remain in Amsterdam with my daughter). What an unusual event, this Icelandic eruption. And, like the confused weather around the world---what do these things have to say to us?
Mother Earth’s messages
I’m sure that many of us have been asking these questions and perhaps trying not to become alarmed by Mother Earth’s messages, as we watch her going through her many powerful shifts, including strong earthquakes and the recent American off-shore oil spill taking place at this very moment. Help! What does it all mean?
Twists and turns
In an astrologer’s blog, I read a quote by Barbara Marx Hubbard, to the effect that "if we were experiencing labor and didn't know we were having a baby, we'd think we were dying." Now this is a great image, don’t you think? It can help us all to remember that, as life takes its often-painful twists and turns these days, it is essential to remain aware of the fact that our beloved Mother Earth (hence, we too) are in the midst of a much larger growth process than we might want to admit.
The need to take charge
Since my return to California, I have been experiencing, within my own awareness, the need to take charge of my life more and more, to become more empowered in numerous different ways. To stand up and accept more and more responsibility for what all the “good” and the “bad” in the world and in my own life and have to tell me. To try to understand what the “dark” and the “light”---and everything that lies in between---have to tell me.
This particular phase
Personally, it seems that one of the main lessons this particular planetary phase of existence has to teach is to not allow myself to become overwhelmed by all of the striking changes our earth is going through. To remain calm on one hand, yet to not ignore my individual power and authority on the other due to fear or confusion. All the challenges which face all of us are real, this is without question. The difficulty lies in how well we are able to face these challenges?
Springboard or obstruction?
Acting responsibly, what does this mean? Literally, it means acting and responding in a way that we can actually accomplish, not what we or others expect of ourselves, for better or worse. So, we can see Mother Earth’s problems, as well as our own personal ones, as either a springboard or an obstruction, depending upon how we choose to view and utilize the problems. If we can be courageous enough to see our problems as a springboard, we can possibly even see them as a chance to take a major leap into the skies of the unknown, to learn a lot more about ourselves and our ability to be more creative and pioneering.
Allowing reorganization
Coming home can mean owning up to all of those (as yet un-owned) parts of ourselves which we know we have inside us but, for whatever reasons, haven’t embraced yet. And if we are lucky, perhaps we are finding it easier than before to take a better look at our potentials, simply knowing we can’t put it off forever. Just as Mother Earth and her humanity are being faced with vast challenges, so we too, as individuals are becoming more and more aware of our chance to allow reorganization and restructuring.
Holding the baby
In allowing old structures, inside and out, to become dismantled, we allow old programming to fade away, and we progress to the next level of watching our hopes and dreams become reality. As in childbirth, this can be a very painful process, and we may very well think we are dying. Yet, after we are able to hold the baby in our arms, we come to the realization that it was all worth it. That, not only did we not die, but that we are feeling very much alive and perhaps better than ever before. Because there is new life in our midst and that this is a very good and exciting thing.
Receiving the visions
Coming home can mean remembering to let go and allow new patterns and new life to enter. We can make choices in how we act, how we re-act, and how we receive new ideas and realizations. Not succumbing to the fear and confusions of this new life, but of receiving the visions and knowing of endless new opportunities, of accessing the perspectives of knowing who we really are and what we are capable of being and accomplishing.
